Hardly!) ![]() ![]() ![]() I LOVE THIS. HOT COSPLAY GIRLS OH YA If you buy it looking for a guide to making your own costume, you will be disappointed. But if you take it for what it is - an hour or so of Japanese girls in pretty costumes posing and answering questions, it is reasonably entertaining. This is an entertaining video, but is nearly worthless for learning about cosplay. (the art of dressing up as anime, manga and videogame characters) The man who interviews the cosplayers (almost all girls) knows little about his subject matter. He seems more interested in the girls than the costumes. Lots of close-ups of faces and few full shots of the costumes. The second half of the video is a japanese reporter interviewing the proprietor of a costume shop. It seems more like an ad for the shop than a news story. The reporter is quite cute in the various costumes but she looks extremely bored. Somehow the whole thing is strangly entertaining as long as you are amused by lots of giggling schoolgirls. Japanese anchorwoman Akemi Matsuzawa presents the ultimate guide to costume play. Always wanted to know what Japanese fans do to support their favorite anime? Lavishly dressed players gather one after another to discuss their costume design secrets. Featuring characters from popular series such as Magic Knight Rayearth, Sailor Moon, and Evangelion. < Cosplay Complex > < Puni Puni Poemy > < Eiken > < I Dream of Mimi > < Elfen Lied: Diclonius Report Complete Collection > < Please Teacher! - Anime Legends Complete Collection > price:Adv Films(2004-06-01) customer 's review (A good laughable dvd) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Definatly worth your time) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Go Chako!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Awesome new animé) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Cosplay Complex) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I really enjoyed the humor this anime brought. It was also very informative about how competive a cosplay can really be. Part of the "Extras" has Cosplay Identification 101. I was able to recognize a lot more outfits after watching it. It also means that I need to watch a lot more anime. The only distrubing thing other than watching girls jiggle and almost falling out of their outfits was the relationship other than Jenny had with Maria's younger sister. Maybe I need to watch more Utena or perhaps Gravitation to fully grasps the situation. This is the first time I've written a review for amazon, but I thought this title was worth it so here goes I picked this title up at suncoast and was quite pleased but first ill start out with the bad: this isnt neccessarily a problem with this title, but with most ova. With ova's, unlike series, since they are short, you dont get to know the characters as much. But in my opinion this title would make a great long series as well But on with the reveiw: This series stars Chako who is in her schools failing cosplay clubs with her friends. Despite not being treated as a real club and no sponser they do pretty well, This story plays out quite well, as well as you can expect from something this short. Most of the characters are loveable, but lets get to the important part Cosplay. If you are a real anime fan, and have seen a lot of anime series, you will love this series. They cosplay about 20 different series in this title, including fan favorite cardcaptor sakura, evangalism, nadiso tv, sgt. from and others, so if you call yourself an anime lover, this title will not disapoint While the japanese track is better, this is one of the better english tracks This is a very funny three episode story about the girls of the East Oizumi Academy Cosplay Association. I do not know if there are such clubs in schools but this anime so yay, right? There are a few things which will either stop you dead, or make you immediately want this DVD. Number one: with all the cute girls involved there are some views of underwear (almost a given in anime). Number two: there is also brief nudity, of the mild sort, in my opinion. Number three: one of the new members recruited really *likes* young girls. This is played for laughs and I didn't find it offensive; it was fodder for some very funny situations. Actually, I am thankful that the Japanese have a different view and it is refreshing to see a female perv for balance. The perv girl does learn a tiny life lesson in the second episode : ) She also experiences a nosebleed which should have killed her when she finally gets close to Athena, the object of her obsession; I still laugh when I think of that scene. The DVD is suggested for 17 plus, which may be just about right, depending on your standards. I think this falls into a gray area between an R rating and PG-13. You have been warned, however. My advice is to read more detailed reviews at www.animeondvd.com and other websites. Although extras are not the best reason to purchase a title, there are some annotated sketches, as well as Cosplay Identification 101 to help identify some of the costumes in the episodes, and clean closing, as well as a Japanese opening. The opening theme is bouncy and fun; however, I prefer the closing theme,The Cosplay Marching Song as performed by the Japanese voice actors. It is one of my favorite anime themes now. Photos of real cosplayers are shown at the end of each episode. This is a highly amusing kind of whacko anime and has very memorable characters. The anime does leave questions(some of them huge questions) unanswered and the strong possibility of more adventures to follow. I fervently hope the series is continued. This is a great new animé. It was such an easy idea to make an animé about the cosplay sub-culture, epecially considering how big it is in Japan. It is amazing nobody has done so before. The animé is cute, and funny, and interesting, and it has heart. I know a lot of guys will get it because it does have,"fan-service,"but there is more to it than that. All in all, the main point the animé is trying to make (as I see it) is about the fun and friendship from the cosplay world. Check out this animé if you love animé. Buy this DVD if you love animé and cosplay! Cosplay Complex is one of the funniest films I own. Even I did things like this when I was a kid. It was well worth it to me. Age??? Well, anyway, the camera angles are bad, either too close or the image is washed out because of the sunlight reflecting off the white or pink of the outfits. There are some sections that deal with material and what outfits are the most popular but as it deals with Japanese Cosplay the prices they mention and the store they visit don't really help if you live in the US. Frankly, giving it 3 stars was a tad high, but I'm being nice. A couple of prurient teenagers hang out at the entryway to a few cosplay conventions with a video camera and a canned list of questions that never varies. They hit on the"cutest"girls they can find (12-14 year olds...). That's it. Not at all an introduction to cosplay, no info on how to get involved, how it evolved in Japan or the U.S.. Skip this, it is awful. It's not out yet but i saw a demo and trailer of it today in fact. It consites of japanese and american cosplayers and skits they preform. My first impression was basicallt extatic since there is only one cosplay tape in america and its subbed. but the whole thing was guys talking to young teen cosplayers in short skirts flirting. i think this one will have great potencial and especially popular with anime fans. I would definetally try it out. .... She's even beginning to find some of Genshiken's manga to be worth reading! But she can only take so much and so she orders a militaristic cleansing of all the junk in the club room. Of course, being otaku, none of the Genshiken want to get rid of ANYTHING! When she accidentally(?) starts a fire with a dropped cigarette, she gets the club banned from their meeting place. Their only hope to win back the good graces of the authorities it to show that Genshiken is an active and productive member of the school. So the group decides to enter a cosplaying contest that will be judged by their favorite anime staff. The snag in their plan is that Ohno, their resident cosplayer is sick, so that leaves Saki to dress up! And we know how far that will fly with her. This final volume also features a going to the beach episode which features a battle between Saki and Sasahara's sister for the attentions of Kohsaka. In the first episode Madarame finds himself alone with Saki, struggling to find points of conversation, and then noticing an extremely long nosehair projecting out of Saki's nose. What to do? What to do?? Don't expect any strong wrap-ups or conclusions in this final volume. If you want a continuation of the storyline I highly recommend picking up the manga version of Genshiken. The comedy in this show is dead-on, and Saki is a great foil for the club's obssessions, but in a nice twist she has begun to show a softer side, and also a loyalty she doesn't like to exhibit. It almost seems as if she has become the main character. At first it seemed as if it would belong to Sasahara, but the real revelation is Saki's evolution from otaku hater to someone that can at least respect and admire passions for anime and manga even if she can't share those passions. In a nice piece of meta-anime, an episode of Genshiken's favorite anime, Kujibiki Unbalance is included here. I wish that this show within a show would actually be expanded into an actual full blown series. The dvd also includes a long 30 minute interview with two of the Japanese voice actresses. Highly recommended. You should also seek out the Comic Party anime. The leather design on the cover smells like leather but looks thin and possibly attached to plastic. The first page inside is see through, the type of paper people trace pictures with, it has a silver heart and wings design but you can see the skull from the next page in the middle. The pages marked how to use are numbered with roman numerals, there are 59 pages(LIX). I'm assuming from that amount of pages and that it looks like 1/3rd of the notebook, that there may be 92(other sites claim 92) or 118(59x2) pages for you two write on. All of the pages for you to write on have a heart and wings symbol on the front top right, and a skull in a circle on the back top left. The notebook is slightly larger than a playstation two disc box, about the width of a double A battery added onto the height and the width of the book. The back of the book is blank, the front has Death Note writen in silver all capitals. The last two pages are blank, with white black white white. The pages with japanese and english names only consume 5 fronts and 4 backs of pages and don't fully fill each page. Oddly enough according to the rules, even though Kira was killing people, he was inadvertantly lengthening many other lives. This toy is very realistic in acount to the show. Once I got this it was in perfect condition. The way it stays perfect isn't good, but I'm guessing that my fault. Once I showed it to my friends and told them the main purpose for the book in Death Note they all wanted to write names in it. Sooner or later there was a fuss going on between one of my friends and a person whose name was written in the note book and tore off the middle page. Which later on destroyed the book, so now the book is basically torn in half. The educational vaule is great other then keeping it or writing people's name down I think it could also be used as a journal/diary so you can become better at grammer and stuff like that. This is a great replica, it has lots of the rules, some pages with name that light wrote, and a whole bunch of pages to write on, plus the shipping was very fast!:) I was absolutely satisfied with this product. It's amazing to read all the death note rules; there's about 40 pages of them. The koolest part is that it includes the pages with the names Light wrote. It was favorable that they're all exactly as was written, so the japanese doesn't spoil anything. I would recommend this for any Death Note fan. Iv been into DeathNote for some time now and iv always loved the Death Note, it was only after i watched the Death Note film did i really want to buy a Death Note for myself! This replica is brilliant, amazing packaging, comes perfect condition in bubblerap + a sealed case that has the Death Note inside, This is a perfect buy for any death note fan! accept the kinda false advertising, it says "Death Note MOVIE SIZE notebook" but, after reciving my Death Note i was a little dissapointed, the size of this item is the size of a DVD/ps2/xbox case, stating its a MOVIE SIZE notebook i thought it would litterally be a exact replica that Light has in the film, if you look in the film, the Death Note he has is ALOT bigger then a DVD case, but infact about the size of a A4 pad of paper. That is the only downside with this item, other then that im completly happy with this! MUST HAVE FOR DEATHNOTE FANS! Item is in stock and ready to ship. It's not just about the sexual desire, it's about the way they go about it, deny it, suppress it, fantasize about it, and more. During the day, Japanese men come across as robotic, mindless, emotionless, infantile, limp, and the younger guys even "androgenous". They are the least sexual creatures you have ever encountered. BUT, come night-time and with their desperate need for, but extreme chemical intolerance for booze, they metamorphosize into creatures unrecognizable. Most are too scared to do much, so they sing their baseball songs then puke, then collapse in said puke wearing their thin little suits and boring ties. But others, especially those with a little more money and certain connections, do carry out their deviance in spades. I mean this is a country where you can buy "used panties from a junior high school girl" OUT OF A VENDING MACHINE, I kid you not! In many ways, pedophilia in Japan is an ideal in most men's minds, and they nearly faint at the mere idea of lifting up a skirt from some school girl (which is precisely why they are mandated to wear such skirts...), and this ideology is most obviously reflected in all the advertising campaigns plastered everywhere. Pedophilia and subservience everywhere. The only other country that openly promotes pedophilia more than Japan, is Germany. In fact, during the Wars in Europe (and even today) pedophilia is / was referred to as the "German Disease". True story. My main issue with this account, is how the author managed her contact and access to this strange, but protected World. That seems highly suspicious to me. Because there is one HUGE theme that is left out of this account entirely, and that is high tech MIND CONTROL. And that is precisely why these girls don't complain and are even proud to be involved. And don't think for a second that the girls take home "six figures" a year. They generate much more than that, but their controllers (often Yakuza associated) keep them on a very short leash. The book is an interesting read nonetheless, but doesn't tell us the whole story, but how many books do??? Great coffee table book! Once you pick it up you can't put it down. Filled with hundreds of very interesting stories and photographs, this book is great choice for any fan of Japan or erotic photography. A very interesting and fun look into Japan's sex culture. Basically a picture book with small tidbits of info here and there. Lot's of nudity, nothing too graphic though. A quick read and quite an eye opener about what types of clubs there are and what goes on in these clubs. A real shame that as a westener I will never be able to enjoy the wonderful pleasures that this sexually advanced society partakes in. Dont expect too much from the book. It is what it is and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I am very interested in all things Japan though. I have been reading what 1 poster must have spent weeks to write , i bought this book for several reasons and none really for kink, although who doesn't love some fun sex,i have lived in Japan,Korea,China and hope to retire to 1 of those, soon if (my 4 diseases ) bad health allow me,i have been in Major Law Enforcement since i was 15 ,and entertainment the same ,What Joan FORGOT,to include except in an online interview was that SEVERAL of these Beauties are Not Japanese,i know the far east like i do the U.S. trust me ,i work with(not for) some very high ranking folks in certain matters of L.E. ,Japan, actually as we all know has the good ole boys known as the Yakuza folks, slide into Korea ,Hong Kong, and find (by whatever means needed) grab a few ,koreans and chinese to work in these, small hell holes YES;against their will. since they will bring in more customers than the young ladies of Japan ,i will state till my last dying breath that Korea has the most beautiful women period, with China 2nd and Japan tied for 3rd with the U.S. sorry ladies just facts... sorry for the long speech, But here is the problem i have here, why doesn't she do a book on some ladies of the night from the U.S. ,and unlike these girls and women ( a lot, most) will slit your throat ,smile and leave ,so to a small measure i feel a lot of americans are very racist about the home turf..my associates will not like me saying this ,BUT;for that very reason i feel prostitution should be legal in the U.S. and taxable,(maybe).Good photos ,some hotties, some very uglies, but ;entertaining yes ,Japan does need to lighten up on the Japan only rule as ,to say who can go in or not,Korea ,Hong Kong, simply uses forms of bouncers ,But at least americans can get (how do you say) serviced as well.. Nuff said........... The Pink Box is about Japan's fantasy and sex clubs. While full of interesting and, sometimes, shocking photos taken while in many of the clubs the book also explains how the clubs work. The rules they follow, the people who work there, the types of people who come to enjoy the clubs and why they survive in Japan in the first place. It is serious but with a touch of humor and great fun. And some of the girls are just hot. InPink Box, photographer Joan Sinclair takes us on a journey inside the secret world offuzoku(commercial sex) in Japan, a world wherekawaii(cute) collides with consumerism and sex. Unrivaled in their creativity and the sheer number of choices, the clubs featured in this book offer their clientele every fantasy imaginable. Subway groping, visits to the nurses office, and comic book character encounters are just the beginning of the immense list of possibilities that are played out in colorful playrooms for adults where no detail is overlooked. Sinclairs photographs capture it all, while an introduction by sociologist James Farrer provides a brief history of commercial sex in Japan and places the images in the context of contemporary Japanese culture. Simple. A lovely guide book to one girl's adventures in Japan. So don't look for millions of pages of details. This is about her and her two friends and their journey to the VOLKS store in Tokyo by way of Kyoto. The cartoonist happens to also be six feet tall. It is a sketchbook and guide to many of Japan's little delights and, sometimes, tiny problems. It has a glossary and a appendix of websites of hotels, food places, stores and so on. Seriously love this book. It's a fun account of Ms. Major Steinberger's travels in Japan. Not only are you taken through her own experiences as a foreigner, but you're also given little cultural tidbits that are just as interesting. Plus, the illustrations are fabulous. I look forward to more from Aimee in the future. I purchased this book because I had heard of it in a chat forum and was already familiar with the author/artist. Most books don't keep my interest long enough to get through the book in a day or two, but this was impossible to put down. Aimee's lovely sketches and playful comments kept me laughing at the turn of every page. Her useful information will fuel anyone dreaming of a trip to Japan into setting the date after reading this book. I am excited to visit the places she mentions and share in the wonderful experiences she wrote about. What a brilliantly lighthearted way to address the ups and downs of tourism. A+ I picked up Japan Ai not really expecting much. I thought it'd be a cute read, but not something I'd really read twice, let alone buy. I was pleasantly surprised when I flipped through the pages. Steinberger's eye for details is amazing when it comes to describing her travels through Japan. Some people may be decieved by the seemingly simplistic artwork on the cover that the storytelling is just as simplistic, but they'd be amazed. The author's passion for travel, anime/manga,&hobbies comes through on every page. Fans of anime, manga,&cosplay will get into the journal because of the detailed information about those interests, but the average person will get drawn into the journal for the attention to details. It is easily accessible to most people. I would consider it a good guide to read before going overseas so one can plan out where to go, as well as knowing what to expect if you are a english speaking traveller. This is an adorable little book, a charming story of a fangirl's adventure in visiting her favorite type of doll's birthplace. Who wouldn't want to go on an adventure like this! The artwork is clean and lovely, a unique style that made this book a delight to read. It really makes you want to go to Japan! It's cute, it's pleasant, it's a very much worth picking up. Join Aimee Major Steinberger on the ultimate fangirl vacation in Japan! This rapid-fire adventure is full of everything fans dream of seeing: cosplay on the infamous Harajuku Street, fantasy restaurants, maid cafes, Tokyo's largest doll store, beautiful shrines, bookstores full of manga, outrageous all-female Takarazuka musicals, cherry festivals, hot springs, special ceremonies, and so much more!
